Green Thinking and Biophilic Futures: Baroness Natalie Bennett Visits Project REPAIR

20th May 2026

Baroness Natalie Bennett, Green Party Peer and former party leader, visited Swansea University to meet with members of Project REPAIR and discuss the urgent social and environmental challenges shaping the future of our towns and cities.

Drawing on her background in agricultural science, Natalie explored the relationship between environmental sustainability, economics, and social justice, highlighting the pioneering work of Lynn Margulis while challenging dominant approaches to economic thinking. During the talk, she discussed themes from her latest book, Green Thinking and Change Everything, sharing ideas on how society might better support both people and the planet to flourish.

The session prompted wide ranging discussion on topics including universal basic income, the four day working week, agroecological farming, and deliberative democracy.

Following the talk, Natalie visited the BIOME alongside REPAIR Project Lead Professor Kirsti Bohata, where discussions continued around biophilic living, retrofit, and the role of place based approaches in shaping healthier, more sustainable communities.
